Don’t put a thing in your suitcase until you’ve read this

Whether you’re planning a staycay in the UK or are jetting off abroad travelling as a family always requires a few thought-out must-haves. From travel cots to cabin-friendly pushchairs here’s our guide to travelling with little ones.

Travel Cots

When you’re away from home, your baby will need a comfy, safe space to sleep. A travel cot is lightweight, compact enough to pack away – often into a handy travel bag – and makes putting your little one down for the night or a nap whilst you’re on holiday a breeze. Some travel cots even come with changer tops so you can change nappies and get them dressed without a fuss. Our best-selling bedside crib Lua handily is easy to travel with too, thanks to its collapsible compact design and storage bag. So if your baby already loves sleeping in their Lua, it’s a little bit of home that will help them stick to their sleep routine while you’re away.

Lightweight Pushchair

A lightweight stroller makes pushing your little one through airports, hotels and bustling streets a breeze. Easy to fold up, lightweight to push and steer, narrower to fit into tight spaces – like car boots and luggage racks, and some even folding compactly enough to store in the overhead cabin on a plane*. If you’re travelling with a newborn, look out for a travel stroller that you can use from birth – like our award-winning Airo. With a comfy lie-flat seat, it can be used for newborns and toddlers, and it’s so compact that it’ll even fit into overhead cabins on planes. And if you have a toddler that’s grown out of using a pushchair daily, you’ll probably still find a lightweight pushchair a good holiday investment: the combination of later nights and jet-lag can make napping while out and about a daily occurrence.

Entertainment on the go

A happy baby means an easy journey and at this stage a travel toy is one of the easiest ways to keep them entertained on-the-go – whether you’re in the car, on a plane or out and about in their pushchair. The hidden sounds and textures will keep little fingers eyes and ears busy, plus some even have integrated teethers to help soothe sore gums, saving you on packing.

All-weather accessories

Whether you’re off somewhere sunny or stay-caying in Britain, where the weather’s bound to be a little more unpredictable, a parasol or rain cover that easily clamps onto your pushchair will be a lifesaver. A UPF sunshade will help keep your baby cool whilst protecting them from any harmful rays, whilst a waterproof cover will keep them cosy and dry – so they’ll enjoy comfy naps, whatever the weather.

New holiday outfits

Their holiday wardrobe will differ a little from their day-to-day wardrobe. From stylish yet protective swimwear for the beach and supersoft towelling ponchos for post-pool dips, to comfy dungarees for exploring the great outdoors and light linen outfits to keep cool on warm days out. When it comes to getting dressed up for the evening, our holiday shop includes dressy outfits that’ll have them looking the part at dinner. And don’t forget plenty of pyjamas and sleepsuits – look for breathable lightweight cotton for warmer nights. And don’t forget those essential extras – throw a few extra bibs, bodysuits and a couple of cosy layers into your suitcase to cover all bases.
