What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files which are stored on your computer or mobile when you visit a website. They are unique to your browser and usually just contain anonymous information. These cookies can last for just the duration of your visit ("session cookies") or they can remain on your computer for longer so that the site will remember you if you come back again ("persistent cookies").

Cookies do all sorts of jobs, like storing your preferences, remembering that you've logged in or keeping your shopping basket up to date - generally making your life easier, faster and more relaxing.

Our Cookie Policy

Here at Mamas & Papas, all information gathered by cookies is completely anonymous, and we can’t use it to identify you personally. We also use some third party cookies (Google and IBM Coremetrics) to help us improve the site, for example by identifying errors or helping us analyze behavior (anonymously) to make the site easier to use. The final type of cookie that we use on Mamas & Papas are targeting cookies which allow carefully selected third parties to know that you have visited http://www.mamasandpapas.com and make advertising elsewhere on the web more relevant to you and your interests.

All our cookies fall into six main categories and we've listed them out below so that you know exactly what we’re doing.

We Use For The Following Cookies:

    • Strictly necessary cookies.

These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms.

    • Analytical/performance cookies.

These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our site. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our site, and will not be able to monitor its performance.

    • Functionality cookies.

These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalisation. They may be set by us or by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies then some or all of these services may not function properly.

    • Targeting cookies.

These cookies may be set through our site by our advertising partners. They may be used by those companies to build a profile of your interests and show you relevant adverts on other sites. They do not store directly personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device. If you do not allow these cookies, you will experience less targeted advertising.

    • Social Media Cookies.

These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the site to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other sites and building up a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these cookies you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

    • Google Analytics.

In addition to the above, we have implemented on our website Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyse how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

If you wish to disable tracking of e-mail pixels, there is a simple basic step you can take to avoid trackers and stop your email from automatically loading images. You won’t be able to avoid all of the trackers that can hide in your email this way, but it should help stop many of them.

Disable image autoloading in Gmail:

  1. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner to access your settings
  2. In the “General” tab (the first one), scroll down to “Images”
  3. Select “Ask before displaying external images”
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on “Save Changes”

Note that this will also turn off Gmail’s dynamic email feature, which makes emails more interactive.

Disable image autoloading in Microsoft Outlook (Office 365):

  1. Click on “File” > “Options”
  2. In the “Outlook Options” window, select “Trust Centre”
  3. Click on the “Trust Centre Settings” button
  4. Check the boxes labelled “Don’t download pictures automatically in standard HTML messages or RSS items” and “Don’t download pictures in encrypted or signed HTML email messages.” You can make a number of exceptions to the first item if you want by checking the boxes underneath it.

Disable image autoloading in Microsoft Mail:

  1. Click on the gear icon on the bottom left
  2. From the “Settings” menu on the right, select “Reading pane”
  3. At the bottom of the menu on the right, turn off “Automatically download external images and style formats except S/MIME Mail” and “Automatically download external images and style formats for S/MIME Mail”
  4. If you are using Mail with more than one email account, make sure “Apply to all accounts” is checked.

Disable image autoloading in Apple Mail:

  1. Select “Mail” > “Preferences”
  2. Click on the “Viewing” tab
  3. Uncheck “Load remote content in messages”

Disable image autoloading in Android iOS Gmail:

  1. Tap on the three lines in the upper left corner
  2. Scroll down to and select “Settings”
  3. Tap on the email account that you want to work with
  4. Scroll down to and select “Images”
  5. Tap on “Ask before displaying external images”

Google has added the setting to the iOS version of Gmail as well. Here’s how to disable it on the iPhone client:

  1. Open Gmail for iOS, tap the hamburger menu in the upper left, and scroll down to settings
  2. Tap the account you want to personalize, and tap into “Images”
  3. Switch from “Always display external images” to “Ask before displaying external images”

Note that for those wishing to do this on Gmail’s mobile client, it appears it will only work for personal accounts and not enterprise ones managed through G Suite, for now.

Disable image autoloading in Android iOS Gmail:

  1. Tape on “Settings” > “Mail”
  2. Find the “Messages” section and toggle off “Load Remote Images”
